Would you take it as an insult if someone called you unique?

I know everyone has their own definition of what 'unique' is or means, but for me it can either mean something positive or negative. I've been called unique so many times and I've asked people if they mean it in a good way or bad way and they say "different in a good way" and sometimes even I get that I "stand out". But now that I'm starting to notice people say it to me, I'm kind of taking it in a harsh way, like ok..I'm unique as you say, but what are you? Like what are you trying to say about me you know? I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too much into it, but it's bothering me. I love being different but the other side of me is like, indifferent about it

Unique is a compliment to me. It's not that I'm one of those people who tries super hard to be different, it's just that I don't mind standing out for the reasons people are usually talking about when they say I'm "unique." Usually it's because my attitude (confident, self-assured) doesn't match stereotypes about my body (people think chubby girls are always insecure). When you're different in a good way, I think it means you're refreshing and you make people rethink their generalizations about others.

depends on the person who says it and the context of the situation.

sometimes its a good feeling because you feel special.

but then you also think about it meaning "i'm different" and you don't necessarily want to be so different that you're ostracized or something.

Unique means "Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else." I personally think the word unique is extremely misused. Because technically everyone is unique for any amounts of reasons.

A lot of people straight up tell me I'm weird, but since they hang out with me, I think it means they like me just the way I am, so I don't worry about it.

depends. I get unique both ways-bad and good. sometimes people say that because they think I'm weird or creepy and sometimes because they think I'm unique in a good way,depends on how they say it.
