He likes another girl but keeps on staring at me, why?

I don't get it. He really likes that girl, when everyone asks him he says yeah I like her. But he stares at me a lot when he thinks I'm not looking. Even when we sit together and I'm just staring randomly at something he'll look at me and I'll notice from the corner of my eye. He notices things about me no one else does like how I shut up when somebody I'm not close to is near and how I hate cramped spaces. But whenever that girl's here he'll pay a lot of attention to her. He spent the whole day with me when she didn't come. Plus he'll play along with me whenever I tease a girl that yeah he's my boyfriend (a lot of girls like him) and he'll play along like omg you didn't know? We've been going out for a while now. He looks at me when I'm talking to other people and he thinks I don't notice whenever a group comes to talk to us I just stand to the side cause I have nothing to say and he'll call out for me. I don't get, he likes her but why does he keep staring?.

That would be because he thinks that you are attractive, physically, sexually, or intellectually.

Some 'boys' deny liking someone or falsely admit to liking someone else because they are afraid of how their attraction to that particular person would be accepted.

If you are interested, even if it is just casual dating (or hell even a FWB) let him know, then the ball is in his court.
