Personal space and crushes....

I hate to even ask this question, I know what this sounds like. Yes it's a flimsy clue, but all the same... There's this guy I know who whenever he interacts with me, he comes really really close. Like, he'll stand literally two inches behind me to read something over my shoulder, or he'll always show me stuff on his phone but lean in way close to do so. When he talks just to me in a group he lowers his voice really low and then gets really close to say it even though he's just saying normal things, like if I know what time it is or if I'll pass him his phone. He never actually touches me though, and aside from a lot (a lot!) of eye contact, there's not much to suggest he's flirting with me. On the other hand, I see him giving other people a lot more space.

Is this a thing? Do guys (or girls, too, I guess) give people they like less personal space? I gotta say, it's effective. Makes my heart race every time!

Yes, it is a thing...a big thing.

He's violating your boundaries. Big time.

It's bad if he's unaware that he's doing this, worse if he is.

Cultures have differing boundary spaces. Americans like about two feet.

Others are as close as one foot or less.

A few inches is too close in any case.

I don't know either...try touching him when he's close; check-to-cheek, lean back when he's behind you,... see his reaction. Might even be fun!

Yeah. It is a form of flirting. Definitely one of the most invasive kind behind actual touching.

If it makes you uncomfortable and you want him to stop you need to voice your displeasure otherwise he is going to continue and even take the lack of disapproval as a sign to maybe push it further.
