Preening - is this a subconcious thing girls do or do you do it deliberately sometimes?

1 example - today I was serving what i thought was a very attractive mum and she flicked her hair back both sides and adjusted her top. I saw all this out of the corner of my eye as I wasn't looking at her. I very rarely see this happen.

2 example - the other day my mate was serving this customer. I saw this girl glance at him and then she looked straight in the mirror to check herself out and make sure she looked good before he served her as she was in the queue.

So there are two examples obviously the second one is more obvious than the first.

So girls - what do you think? Subconcious? Deliberate? Or depends on the situation?

I'd say a mixture of both.

If someone we find attractive is going to in some way see or communicate with us, we will fix ourselves to make sure we look presentable to this person.

On the other end, maybe our lip gloss is catching our hair and we just need to take a minute to adjust ourselves and your presence doesn't really have anything to do with it.

If you're serving these people food, they could possibly be moving their hair out of the way so it doesn't get in the food or something like that.

Yeah I dont work with food as I work in a department store that sells clothing home items etc.. but I get you're point. I also have figured its a bit both. It can vary from girl to girl.

Sometimes it's definitely deliberate; if a woman feels like she's looking sloppy, she's going to do everything she can at a moment's notice to fix that. If she sees someone she finds attractive looking at her, she'll do the same thing.
Sometimes it's subconcious, like when a girl rubs under her eyelid while wearing mascara or eyeliner or whatever, or when she flicks her hair out of her face.
It really depends on the situation.

Yeah, definitely. It can be a reaction to lots of different emotions: excitement, nervousness, anxiety, pride, flirtatiousness, whatever.
