A guy calling a girl JERK. Why?

A guy friend of mine has called me as jerk twice already. I know it was supposed to be a joke but I feel a bit offended. Weve been friends over an year now and i would say we are farely close in terms of friendship.

Would a guy ever call a girl jerk?
Does he do it because he thinks of me just as a friend?
Would he be talking nicer if he was interested in me?

Thank you everyone. I met this guy at a bar few years ago and he seems naturally rough when he talks. I think that is the part of the problem.

Well, i believe that a guy that is friends with a girl has some sort of attraction towards her at some point. But, it could just be that he just sees you as a friend. And he's only playing around with you.

Obviously there is going to be some sort of common attraction, just not sexual. Men can friend-zone women too, but for two people to even be friends there has to be some sort of common interests that "attract" them together.

Yea it's possible he still likes her if he calls her a jerk. Some guys act mean or call girls names when they are interested. They become shy an nervous to say how they really feel so they put on the bully act which is a cover up for how they feel but too afraid to admit it to others or themselves
