Question for uncircumcised men: When you urinate, do you pull the skin back, or leave it?

I have no idea what the norm is for men who are uncircumcised and would like to know if there is any difference. I assumed that pulling the skin back might make the area a bit more sense for good hygiene. My boyfriend is uncircumcised and when I asked him, he says he doesn't bother pulling it back, but I wonder if he should.

I've been with uncircumcised men before who swear they "clean up" after going to the bathroom - yet I know they don't as I don't hear the bathroom sink running afterward. (Sort of a give away.)

I'm not crazy about the urine-smell afterward if my boyfriend wants oral sex at night, and I want to know if what he's doing is normal (not pulling the skin back after urinating), and if not, should I tell him that this is what most men do if they are uncircumcised?

I used to leave it forward but now I pull it back because it gets kind of drippy. If I'm not at a urinal I also clean it up with a bit of toilet paper as well. Sorry for the TMI but hey, you asked.

Leaving it forward is perfectly normal and probably isn't a problem for his hygiene. Urine is sterile, after all. I did it for many years and never had a problem with it. It's not bad for your health but I can see it being unpleasant for oral sex, though.

But look, if you're going to confront him with it, just do it directly. Nicely, but directly. Say what you mean. Don't use an "everybody else is doing it" pretext. Don't bring the whole "everybody knows how to stay clean under there but you" element into it. It's belittling and shaming and it'll kill the mood. Another lecture about penile hygiene is the last thing an intact guy wants to hear. Trust me, we've all heard it before. Don't make it sound like he's gross or lazy just tell him that it would make it much more pleasant for you to go down on him if he pulls his foreskin back before he pees.

I pull it back just enough to make sure I don't piss in the folds. That's not to say I pull it back all the way because that's unnecessary. I might expose 1/4 of the head at most. Otherwise when the piss hits the folds it goes places I don't want it to. Plus if it stays under the foreskin then it'll eventually drain by gravity into my boxers and no guy wants that. I doubt your boyfriend is doing anything differently than what the rest of us are doing. All in all, it's nothing to concern yourself with.

And regards to the bathroom sink, do you honestly think we stick our penises under the tap and rinse them off? No guy, circ'd or not does this ever. Can you imagine at public urinals all the guys waddling over to the sinks with their pants down to wash their dicks? Haha. No chance.

I knew my ex was full of shit when he told me this for that very reason. But to say it as if he was different from all other men by washing up after was a laugh because there is nothing to lie about, really. What I am finding is that the men who actually do pull the skin back are simply saying so, and there are a couple of men here who obviously are realizing that maybe they should and are reacting badly to the question. It's making me think that yes, it probably is necessary to pull it back, even if it's just enough over the head to be comfortable while remaining clean. Thanks for your answer. :)

So, as an uncircumcised male I was taught at a young age to wash my hands before urinating and after and yes to retract my skin. I wash before, because you don't know what your hands were touching all day and who touched that prior to you, and then when you're urinating you touching yourself and retracting and if you didn't wash your hands prior the bacteria on your hands would make its way under your foreskin, where as if you don't retract the urea gets built up, can cause an undetectable infection in and male when the urine bacteria tends to mix with the smega build up if not properly washing daily, (just as a female would do cleaning her labia folds). Dirty foreskin would possibly cause a uti or other issues for a female. I personally would also never let a woman go down on me if I knew I wasn't clean down there, that's gross in my opinion.

Believe me... that was a whole other story. No tap running to even wash their hands was the exact thing I confronted him with after he was so adamant that he "washed under his foreskin every single time". Someone that clean and neurotic about it wouldn't even have to think about washing their hands, as they would just do it... all the time. He was full of shit anyway. But it made me wonder if there are actually men out there who would go the extra step knowing they'd have oral sex later on.

Usually, I don't pull back. However, I have been wearing my foreskin permanently pulled back for the last 6 weeks. I'm simulating the look and the feeling of being circumcised. Hence, I pee with the foreskin retracted.
Furthermore, there is a definite difference between foreskin forward and foreskin back during peeing. The aiming point is vastly different between the two modes.

But herein lies the difference. We don't piss and shake. Unlike men, we do wipe up. Some of us even use feminine towels that are flushable. Men, circumcised and uncircumcised do NOT do this. Piss and shake is what all men do, but it's a matter of whether or not urine remains under the skin by his choice unless he does wipe up.

Um.. this is why women use toilet paper. We mop things up. An uncircumcised guy who doesn't pull the skin back is bound to have a lot more urine under the skin than any woman will have on her labia. Hence my question.

You're an expert on foreskin now? There is a hole at the end, it's not some crazy system where the piss goes under the skin and circles around a few times before exiting, it leaves and may happen to barely touch the side. I guarantee you would have more residue.

Well, unless you are gay, I probably have seen more uncircumcised penises up close than you, and I can tell you they are all different. The man I'm with now has foreskin that covers the head completely and then some, with skin to spare about a half inch over. Hence my question.

Pull it back to pee and dab it with paper or towel to dry it, but always wash it throughly before any sexual activity. I would let a women suck it if I didn't througly wash it right before. If i went down on a woman I would have her wash her vagina first too.

It don't hurt or anything when you pull the skin back, plus when you do pull it back it don't get urine around the head or trapped under the skin

I can see being circumcised being better in the way of not having to worry about things like urinating and wondering whether or not to pull the foreskin back. Even for sex, what you see is what you get. But if men are doing it for cosmetic reasons, trying to please their partner, it's unnecessary. I have no preference from circumcised to uncircumcised as they all do the job nicely during sex. If women pressure a guy to do it for the look, then women that shallow shouldn't have a guy in their life as willing enough to do it. I have no issue with the look of both, but always wondered if there were men who wished they'd been circumcised thinking it would be better for hygiene. If not, then I just learned something. :)
