Arrogant guys think this is old news and don't give much of a response
Clingy guys think they met their future wife
Insecure guys will be happy for the rest of the day but won't be confident enough to do more than thank you for the compliment... if that
Preppy guys will think they impressed you with their expensive look/possessions
Guys who haven't spent much time around girls might be shocked and take a couple seconds to respond
I would probably use that to start a conversation if I was interested

I would take it as a compliment, even if I've always believed that i'm ugly.

It would make me feel really good to hear someone call me hot when I think otherwise, it would help with my self esteem quite a bit. Which will also help with my confidence level, which will help me get girls to like me.

In short; compliments always lead to good things. :D

It's the same way a girl feels when a guy calls her "amazing". One of the highest compliments you can give a guy is on his physical appearance. That's why guys always try to hit on girls by telling them they're "beautiful", "sexy" , "hot", "gorgeous", etc. because they feel it's a huge compliment but the girl takes it as a superficial comment on her appearance.

In my view though if a guy said I was sexy or hot or something a long those lines I would instantly think "immature, rude" depends on the girl I feel it isn't a huge compliment, I feel it's mocking and it would drop my esteem by a big percent I'm not speaking for all girls though, it depends on who it is.

If someone would say I was sexy or hot, I'd take it as a compliment unless they're obviously lying about it. Not everyone is being rude when complimenting a person. What if they really meant it though, and you blew the compliment and just lost something? That would really suck :o
