Why does he text me once in awhile?

I went to meet a guy at the restaurant two month ago.. We got along pretty well and we chatted a lot on the phone before we met. We never saw each other again after that.. he didn't really seem interested to see me again. But since that time, he always texts me first once in awhile... I always think I'll never heard of him after that, but then he comes back. He asks me things like how've you been.. But why? If he's not interested to see me again as a "date" or as a friend, why does he keep texting me? And why does he randomly say things like "you're beautiful like the stars"... Is he just messing around with me?

he is messing with you.. why he does this is not nearly as important as why you allow him. he is emotionally unavailable to you and you deserve better. don't give him the attention he caves by responding to him. move on

I certainly feel he's not messing around with you, but he's just not able to figure out what he wants from you (like a date, friendship, relationship etc.). As of now, he is one hell of a confused guy!
