Why do people let dogs lick their mouth?

My boyfriend lets his dogs lick, or excuse me, "kiss" his mouth and then tries to kiss me! Wtf. That's not attractive at all. And then tells me how not gross that is and how weird I am. Why do people do that? I'm afraid this is going to be an issue when we live together, because I absolutely am not ok with doing that, I don't even handle food after touching an animal unless my hands are washed. What to do?

My brother is like that with his dog. Me personally thinks it's sick. Supposedly there is a myth that dog's mouth are actually very clean. I don't know if that's true, or if it's just an old wives' tale. But regardless I think it's pretty sick. I am more like you. After I touch an animal I have to wash my hands before I can touch food, or anything in the kitchen. I guess I get it from my mom. But animals are dirty. And you never know where they've been or what they've eaten.

Trust me, it's an old wives' tale. I used to have cocker-spaniels. They apparently have the absolute worse bite out there because of all the bacteria in their mouths. Not surprising considering how they eat other dog's crap. EWW! Sorry, but that had to be said.

Okay, I think you need to tell him that it's gross and that you don't like it. Deny him kisses until he can stop cheating on you with his dog. Tell him that too. I don't think you'll mind terribly denying his rotting mouth until he stops that. Honestly, that's just wrong on so many levels. EWW!!!

dude.its a friggin dog.licking is what they do.you don't have to kiss your boyfriend after he kisses his dog but your over reacting in my opinion.every one I know who has dogs,including me and I have 5,kisses there dogs and lets them lick them.like.wtf.sorry.im just a big dog lover and I love the affection they show.

People are just different on this issue. When I lived at home and we had a dog, I used to let him give me kisses all the time. It may not be the most hygienic thing ever, but people love their dogs. If you're not comfortable with it, though, then he should not kiss you after he lets his dogs kiss him.

That's gross. I personally couldn't kiss a guy who kissed his dog in the mouth. dogs lick their genitals and then go back and lick humans in the face. would you want to lick dog genitals lol. I would tell him straight up b/c that's a sanitary issue and kind of a big deal

When someone says that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a humans, what they mean is far less bacteria grows in their mouth. This is a fact. However, it is also true that a cockroach is one of the cleanest creatures on the earth. That doesn't mean it won't gross any normal person out.

I absolutely agree with you on that issue. There is no way I would kiss my girlfriend (if I had one) if she got her face licked by a dog and then came to me asking for a kiss. I don't feel like putting my lips against my girl's lips splattered with dog saliva. I also prefer to wash my hands after every time I come in contact with an animal. I always get some kind of feeling that I have become dirtier after the encounter.
