Don't tease, the words "not right now baby, please" or whatever you call him, his first name, a pet name, whatever would work. if he asks why or tries to get you to do it anyway rinse and repeat. Or actually tell him why, (leaving out the distrust part)

The easiest way would be to not put yourself in that situation, try cuddling up on the couch and watch a movie every now and then,

I'd advise against your plan. If you want to see if he likes you then stopping an activity you both enjoy (sex) will not accomplish this goal. Instead, keep having sex if you enjoy it and see how hr reacts. If you deny him then he will assume you are losing interest, which will cause him to back away in order to protect his own feelings.

This will cause you both to drift apart.
