What does it mean when he stops talking to his friend to stare at you?

I was passing by this guy I liked in the hallway. I heard him suddenly stop talking midsentence. I didn't look, but I knew he was staring at me from a distance...

I figured guys only did that with girls they liked... But I wasn't sure. Do you think he likes me? Or does he just find me attractive?

That I know of, yes. there was this other time where I told him I looked like crap this one day, and he said I didn't look like crap at all. I took that as him thinking I was attractive. but maybe i'm reading too much into it.
