Younger guy secretly taking pictures of me... Is that normal? Should I confront him?

I work with college students. I'm a little older than this student. We work together at least once a week. It has come to my attention that he's been photographing and video tapping me when we're in the same room/talking. It is just of my face and nothing inappropriate like my chest or butt, etc...however, it's a little strange.

He makes off-hand comments about us "hanging out" on weekends (tries to joke about me "coming with" the group of students I work with/around).

He's very nice and I had suspicious that he had a little crush, but the photo thing is bothering me a little. I just don't know how or if I should confront him.

Is this normal? Is he just shy and awkward? His friends are always teasing him about getting a date, so I think he's feeling very single as well.

It depends. A lot of people guys and girls might try to take a pic of the person they like. If a girl did it to a guy most people wouldn't be so freaked out about it. I imagine if a guy had a girl trying to take pictures of his face, that people would say it was sweet or have some other explanation for her actions other than her being a creepy stalker that needs her ass kicked. Despite the fact women are far more likely to stalk men, than men are to stalk women. I have had a few try to follow men home myself and I am not exactly the most charming guy on the planet. While taking secret pics isn't normal behavior it doesn't mean that he is dangerous or deserves to be treated like vermin.

He is clearly socially awkward. I think he just feels desperate and alone and doing the best he thinks he can do by settling for pictures of the girl he likes. If he were taking photos of your ass or something then I would start to worry he is a creepy pervert.

Life is really tough for people that are nice but socially awkward. Guys are expected to be the aggressors and are far more likely to be called creeps for behavior that would be overlooked in a woman. At worst the woman might be called desperate. If this is the extent of what he has done I wouldn't worry. I would just drop some hints that you are seeing someone so he can give up on you and move on.
