+1 yThis can mean several things:
1) He's a player and he's playing you. He knows all the right moves and all the right angles to play to get what he wants, which is you.
2) He really is sincere and does want to be with you! If you're posting this question on this website, it means you're interested also, or else you would have just brushed it off. Clear up all the clutter in your schedules along with all the people congesting it and see where it goes!
3) You're very, very interested in him. Very interested to the point where you're blinded by warning signs and exaggerating subtleties. Be very careful of that before you get hurt and try to take a few steps back into your situation. (I tell people to take a step back and view themselves from the outside, advise yourself as if you were a friend, what would you tell yourself?)
I doubt it's number one, but it's a possibility. Anyways, look into all the angles (especially the one's you've overlooked or don't want to see) and make the best decision for you. Good luck!36 Reply- +1 y

I thought similarly that it could be 1 or 2. However, as a woman, sometimes I find it hard to tell the difference between #1 and #2. Of course, true players are fairly easy to fish out ...but guys who "like" you but won't ever "love" you are hard to figure out. Any advice on how to tell the difference?
- +1 y
Very good question abra, and yes you're very right. It is very, very, hard to figure out between #1 and #2.
What I have found as a common trait is that #1s tend to be a bit 'theatrical'. You know, the 'chick-flick-perfect-guy-heartthrob-who's-said-all-the-right-words-and-too-good-to-be-true' type person. Trying hard to convince you to be with him, almost acting like a used car salesman, complimenting you excessively, and referencing the majority of his compliments on physical - +1 y
Attributes usually raises a red flag. The only things that this person loses if he doesn't have you is his pride, dignity, and definitely his ego. That's all, and that recovers soon once he finds someone else he's attracted to.
#2 on the other hand, does follow some traits of #1 (mainly because he's trying to flatter you and/or gain attention from you). He does try to say all the right things and try to be this person on #1, but he does so a bit more nervously, yet genuinely. - +1 y
Why? Because this person does have something a lot more to lose. Unlike #1, it's not only his ego/pride/dignity and all that stuff, but the most vulnerable thing a man has that he fears most to get hurt, and that's his heart. If he shows you more of who he is, opens up to you and lets you see more of who he really is inside, and shows (yet tries to hide) that he has a lot to lose if he doesn't succeed, then this would be a good indication that he really is a #2.

If you or anyone else needs any more clarification between those two types of individuals, please don't hesitate to drop me a message.
Best of luck!

+1 y"I always liked you, we just ran in different crowds"
Sounds to me, like the following:
"I've always thought you were (cute / sexy / sweet / caring / etc), but I never thought I could actually date you, because I thought you were (insert stereotype here)."
------
------
Basically, the guy mentioned he like(d) you, I'm assuming you like him (Because your asking about him on GaG). What's the problem? If you want to date him - stop overanalyzing and just ask him out; if he didn't ask you back then - chance are, things haven't change and he's still worried about asking you out, which blocks him from "asking you out".
Best regards,

Agreed with this sentiment. Its quite easy to like a girl but feel for whatever reasons that getting together won't happen/wont work.
May I ask what kind of crowds do you guys hang out with?...some girls I know are quite outgoing and what-not but that means they are...lets say less feminine and more worldly than I usually like, even though I might fancy them and they make awesome friends.
But ArtistBboy is pretty spot on. - +1 y

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWhat if a guy said "I never lot feelings for you ". That he REALLY wanted to tell you that but he had a difficult time telling you this because other things always got in the way , & you were hard to talk to & or he thought you did not want to talk to him?
{The post above just reminded me of this... What do you guys think I should make of it - if anything?}
{ We dated years ago then I left, the came back & we ignored each other the finally started talking together & now we spend lots of time together.}
...
I'll answer the post above separately.11 Reply
+1 yit means exactly what he said and what he did or in this case, didn't do. as it should, at his age. he didn't like you enough or you weren't suitable enough as far as age maybe, for him to pursue you.
now he is interested.
imho, I wouldn't get carried away by it, if a man is really really into you, he would do somethign about it and he didn't when you ran in diff crowds. that would not be a deterrent to a truly interested male.10 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIt could mean that he thought you were too good for him therefore he didn't think he had a chance with you even though he liked you.
But on the other hand, it could also mean the opposite. As in, he thought you weren't good enough for him, that you didn't fit in with his friends. And while he does like you, he didn't want to be seen with y ou. (It's probably the first one though)12 Reply- +1 y
I wouldn't be surprised if he himself is wondering why he said that - probably couldn't find a better way to say he was scared to ask you out and probably thought you'd say no. Or maybe uncomfortable with how some of your friends perceive him too.

+1 yLol, this is kinda funny.
First off this is so typical of what guys think women are like.
"I always liked you, we just ran in different crowds."
I always liked you, this is just it, he likes you, and he is saying it. HE LIKES YOU.
we just ran in different crowds, he has a hard time asking you out for fear of rejection.
We guys are simple, if we say we like you we do. The different crowds bit may be a way of saying he doesn't feel comfortable asking you out.
If this isn't the truth, then he is strange. Most guys, if they say they like you they do. Unless there is an obvious reason to you that they would not, if something is really wrong then it may just be him letting you down easily. If you want to see which try to find a reason why you should ask for his number, if he doesn't ask for yours then he is trying to let you down easy.12 Reply- +1 y
"We guys are simple, if we say we like you we do." This confuses me, because sometimes guys tell me that guys never say things like that unless they mean it and sometimes guys tell me that guys say stuff like that when they don't mean it to get in your pants. How can we tell the difference?
- +1 y
Well guys always want to get in a girls pants, sorry but even if they are "the one" we still want in the girls pants. Its instinct, but unless your the cruel b**** then if we say we like you then we do.
From what you told me, I believe he does like you.
+1 yWhen a man tells you that he's always liked you, it's a very big step for him to come forth with that. This vulnerability does indicate honesty. However, the second half of that quote affirms that you are not the only one he has/had his eye on. He tends to get caught up with other women/people along the way and never seems to have the time, or the "single" label over his head to give you what you deserve. "Different crowds" mean either different social groups, whether separated by social, geographic, demographic, or financial status. What he means by that term can be vague as you probably have noticed, but he also is letting you know that he is not the only one at fault for being "busy" either. Clear up your schedules and other people in your lives if both of you see a potential relationship in the future. Good luck!
11 Reply901 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. I always liked you is pretty self explanitory that he has feelings for you. As for running in differant crowds well that could be hard to interpret. He could mean he hung out with differant group of people and didn't get a chance to ask you out; or he always thought you wouldn't want to date him.

+1 yI've said these words before. It means that he regrets never asking you out a long time ago. Then when he didnt, things like you going out with somebody else and him dating other people always got in the way of getting around to you two hooking up. I am guessing that he is now single and you may or may not be ---- and he is saying in a round about way, "We should go out"..."give this a try and see what happens"...

+1 ymeans he liked you but he was letting stupid stuff that shouldnt have been a priority (like peer pressure) affect his view of whether he should or should not approach you
32 Reply- +1 y
Thats what it seems like to me too.
+1 yI would say yes, he is still interested. Make sure he knows you are interested (if you are) and invite him to run with your crowd.
Good Luck,
James32 Reply- +1 y
I am not sure it is a breaking point. Maybe he was just suggesting why you guys had not hooked up so far. But you have a better idea the differences in your group of friends. A big age difference, or social standings, or intellect, all might be reasons that he brought it up. One of you has to migrate to the other person's friends. But the real issue is if he is using it for a reason to not date you now.
good luck,
James

He likes you.
Always has.
But you two ran in different crowds.
Either he meant social circles/type of person you guys are/ etc...
He likes you. Go for it31 ReplyWhat he means by you two were in different crowds, is it is his excuse for not being more aggressive and he wants to get at you faster now. Be forewarned of this type of person. the kind of guy you want to meet is someone that takes his time with you. that both of you slowly form a relationship. If you go too fast, you will make a lot of mistakes and I hope you don't get pregnant in the long run.

+1 yI think he means that you don't have much in common or that you hang out with differnt people than him?
11 ReplyWell yea he likes you. He wouldn't say this if he didn't. Running with different crowds was what stopped him from asking you out. it seems understandable, but it seems like something that would happen in high school.
30 ReplyI think that this means that he likes you, he has liked you for a very long time now...but the two of you hav e different interests and have different friends and th erelationship may be complicated and difficult thus he is willing to try it only if you want to...but it may be difficult

+1 yIt means he's still interested and he wishes he told you then.
11 Replyit seems like he does like you cause always = always
but either he or you got mixed into the wrong ppl
and that changed things but he still has feelings for u30 ReplyHe is totally into you , he is just like scared of what your friends and his friends will say about it or maybe that he have not had time to hang with you but now he has realized your totally made for each other. he has given you all the signs that he is in love with you ! so now its your turn girl go for it!
10 Replyi think he deff likes you:) depending how different your "crowds" are, I think he's just nervouse what his friends and your friends would think if you guys started dating. But if you really like hi m and think he really likes you, which it sounds like he really does, then you should show him that you guys aren't that different and shouldn't care what your friends think because they should be happy for you guys no matter what. Hope I helped:)
10 Replythis is goood stuff gurl! sweet this guy is totally interested. Even though you might not be in the same crowd he is willing to put that behind him it doesn't really bother him eventually he will bring into his world. Go for it he is totally into you. Have fun now. o ya girl if he is already asking if you are taken yup definately he needs to know if he has a chance at all with you...YES he is interested lol :) go guurl

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yhes interested but never had the chance to get close to you before, but now he is... GO FOR IT
! As long as he said it sincere from his heart and said it cos he wanted too, not from you asking him anything, then hs dead serious !10 Replyi don't think so... it means he likes you but you 2 are not meant to be.. that's my interpretation at least.
10 Replyi just think it means that he has liked you for a long time but you guuys never got a chance for a one on one date or talk. I mean you can always ask him out and find out if he likes you or not.
