Do any girls like emotional and clingy guys?

There's a question just recently added similar to this, but it's about someone who doesn't like that her boyfriend is clingy and emotional. I ask this because I know a few girls who also do not like this, but growing up you always hear people (other kids in school mostly) say how boys are tough and girls are always wanting love and what not. Being a young kid myself I used to think love and romance is stupid but now I'm older, and I'm the exact opposite now.

Now, it seems girls aren't into the whole emotional and clingy thing anymore. I'm not talking about "up your butt" constantly clingy either, the girls I know just aren't for it at all really. So I ask, do any girls like emotional and clingy guys anymore?

i like attention so clingy is fine. but with some reasonable space. my friend's boyfriend is practically living with her (aka they are, but not legally and her parents aren't supposed to know about it since they're paying the rent...). Anyway, they are more or less together 24/7, and have a lot of mutual friends they spend time with. me and another friend were going to have a girls' night in with her, so she asked him to go to his REAL home aka his parents' house for the night.

he kept calling and texting and crying, all drunk, because he thought her asking him to leave for the night meant she didn't love him anymore. and by the way, they'd been together for like 10-11 months at the time.

i mean he was practically moved in not even a month in the relationship.

now THAT is a prime example of emotional and clingy which NO PERSON should ever be, guy or girl.

funny enough another one of her exes was a lot of the same way. actually, not so funny, because at the time she was my roommate, and he lived in our dorm room for nearly 3 weeks. it was pretty horrid.

anyway, like I said, I am not that independent. I can be, but I like the attention. some girls like to have girls' nights out more, some prefer to spend more time with the bf. I belong to the latter. and I would rather I had someone who was the same way and enjoyed giving me more attention, and I think that is what you define as clingy, because you emphasize not SUPER clingy but well, attached.

so yes, I have covered base number 1.

base number 2: emotional.

well, I believe we all have feelings as human beings. and I don't believe the whole guys are touch and don't talk about feelings mentality. I'd rather someone tell me how they felt instead of keeping it inside. I might not like it, but at least I'll know. guys complain that girls expect them to be mind readers. well, I don't want to be a mind-reader either.

on the other hand... too "sensitive" I think is the right word, just isn't for me.

i'd prefer someone with a tough exterior with people, but showing more feeling when alone with me, just because I'd know he's actually opening up to me. but if we're talking about the whole sensitive guy thing portrayed in movies, then no thanks.

i mean, he can cry during a sad movie if he likes, and I'll tease him about it, but I won't think any less of him.

well, I guess it depends on the movie :S

but if he's as emotional as my friend's exes, or like one of the answers said: "crying every time he talked with his parents because they live far away", then I don't think I could handle it. I will be honest, but I am a lot to handle at times. I have enough trouble keeping my own moods in control, so I need a personality that is more laidback and stable emotionally, to balance me out. to be fair, I don't think this is a girl/guy thing, but really a personality thing.

Emotional - Yes.

Clingy - If it's not up your butt clingy then that's fine. But of course it's also exciting and keeps the sparks flying when there is just enough space that keeps you wondering. Stops you getting complacent and too comfortable. Independence is such a turn on. Also It's nice to feel needed bu it's better to feel wanted.

If you mean physically clingy like hanging on to me whilst I'm making tea in the kitchen, climbing all over me whilst I'm writing this answer, basically acting like a monkey is fun.

I think there is a fine balance between the steel and velvet that every man must have. A man must be in touch with his emotions, but he must not be ruled by them. A true man perceives the time to display emotion, and when it is not appropriate. No guy should be as emotionally unstable as a woman on average, but certainly not suppress the emotions to live up to some social stigma (like fearing the gay label).

It's not a bad thing to say "I love you" and what not, but don't cry over the phone or anything. Don't be clingy though; keep the girl chasing you.

I do not like clingy overly emotional guys. I recently dated a guy who was always wanting to be around me, and would cry after talking to his family (I get it, they live on the other side of the country, but still, every time?), and it drove me crazy! I'm independent and emotionally stable, okay, maybe not always emotionally stable, but still, more than he was.

I want a man who is the right combination of tough independence and emotionally needy. More tough independence though, because let's be honest, we all need our space, and sometimes it's just that much easier to be by yourself than with somebody at all.

Well how about if you had a boyfriend who wasn't completely clingy and always needed to be around you, but when he was he always wanted to hold your hand, say he loved you and cuddle. Is that a bit too much?

That's pretty much exactly like the last guy I dated. It drove me nuts after a while. He was by far the clingiest guy I've dated, and it honestly made me crazy. I need my space, even when he was around, I didn't need him sitting next to me all the time, holding my hand, or having his arm around me, but that's what he wanted, and it did make me crazy.

IMO, I do prefer a guy who is emotional and not too clingy. I like a guy who is emotionally available and can express himself openly in that respect. In addition, I like to know he cares and that I hold some type of significance to him. However, there is a fine line I draw with this. It will completely turn me off if he freaks out if I can't call or text him back immediately. If he shows up at my house to check up on me or follow me around. I need to have my own space too and sense of identity. I would never play games with him or not respectful of his feelings. But, if he cannot keep himself in check then I will cease seeing him.

Honestly? God no! I like a man with backbone and doesn't need to be with his girlfriend 24/7. But all the same yeah its nice to see that the guy has some emotions and feels free to share them with his girlfriend. Just not too much. The girl doesn't want to see her man more emotional then she is. And affection is always great. But me personally, I hate it when a guy is always clinging to me. Im really shy and I rarely ever touch anyone. But if I have a girlfriend that I really like and she wouldn't want me "being clingy" (keeping in mind I rarely touch other human beings) I would dump her because I would take that as a sign of her not being very interested.

Yes, every girl I know hates a clingy guy. We don't like when you act like we're dating a girl. Desperate girls like emotional & clingy guys because they need attention since they're insecure, but no secure person likes emotional clingy people when it comes down to it.

No. Its completely unattractive, I am currently going through it with a guy. Within a few days after he started talking, he sent a meme about I need a hug and someone to tell me I'm not as worthless as I think I am and also he started calling me princess. He kept on commenting on my fb post until I told to ease off the commenting Now, he costantly apologises and he makes me feel like he thinks we are in a relationship when I have told him that I'm not looking for one. He is too eager for my liking and needs to back off.

It depends on the girl, and exactly what you mean by clingy. We like them when they aren't embarrassed to have feelings, and we like them to be a little vulnerable. When they're slightly vulnerable and awkward, it makes me and most of my friends feel a little better about themselves, and in a world where girls are under so much pressure, we enjoy every break we can get. Having somebody who can empathize with us about social issues is a HUGE comfort.

For sure I don't. I thought that was what I wanted but after being with a couple of guys like that I hated it. Now I found someone who definitely is not clingy or emotional and It's the biggest turn on for me. Now I don't feel like the "guy" in the relationship.
