Guys, is it true that if a guy doesn't talk to his guy friend for months, it doesn't mean thier friendship means any less?

I heard a guy friend say, "When a guy friend hasn't heard from his other guy friend for a long time, (and lets say they were very good friends) that its not something to get hurt over. He's like, "No one doubts the friendship or thinks the friendship is any less, we just kinda say, 'Where have you been, dude?' "
He said that people shouldn't question the friendship just because you haven't heard from the person in a while. Is this true?
If a man and his guy friend used to talk to each other almost everyday but not he's only reaching out every week or two weeks, is that still true?

Depends on the friendship. It's true for me and my best friend as well as a few close friends. But acquaintances go out the window pretty much. I actually just moved back to Virginia.
Picked right up where we left off.

I moved away from my best friends for half a year, and when I came back we were all different people. Our relationship was never the same.
