Why Swedish guys (or guys from nordic countries) dont like short girls?

hi. I am 21 year old American girl, went Uppsala for study. I am here for nearly a year. I think Swedish guys are attractive, but they have different beauty standards than us Americans.
I am 5 ft 4 inch, which is completely average in America but little short in Sweden. In America, being short is a plus; most guys think short girls are cute and easy to lift. But i think in Sweden, short girl is like "fat girl". I have told I am too short by guys several times, most girls younger than 18 tries to be longer by interesting diets and sports, even growth hormones and those for older than 18 and rich go for leg lenghtening surgery. When you ask a guy "define me a beautifull girl", he responds "well, longer than 5ft7inch, slim" or "longer than 5ft7inch, curvy or fit." Beauty standarts are differ from culture, why in scandinavian culture, being tall is equals to being beautifull?

I am Swedish. As you said, beauty standarts are different in every culture. We Swedes are health addicted people. The more healthy features you have, the more attractive you are. Being significantly taller than average is sign of healthier childhood and stronger genes. So yes, in Scandinavian culture, taller woman have a great advantage.
In America, most guys dont like the idea that their partner is taller than themselves. It is a "man should be tall woman should be small" norm. In Sweden, there is not such a norm. Guys dont bother when woman are significantly taller than them, on contrary they love that. "ju längre desto bättre". But woman also prefer taller guys too, so short guys date with short woman even they want tall woman.
Leg lenghtening surgery is so silly idea even some of my friends went for it. I dont recommend. 5"4' is short but you can compensate it with right style, fit body and personality. Nobody is perfect.

Some of my guy friends said that they prefer girls who are 10 cm taller than themselves than a girl who is 20cm shoter. But, how them relate height and health? And why swedes care height so much, i saw a guy on Okcupid wrote "no short trash" on his profile? interesting...

Ahh. Dating sites are full of superficial guys who only care appearence. In reallity, guys dont measure girls and probably they dont realize that you are little shorter than average if you have right style. In dating sites, people only focus on appearence and since being short is considered a turn off in Sweden, you lose. Try to find true man in real life, I am sure your good personality will compensate your height. :)

In Sweden, there are more girls than guys. So guys are more picky about their ideal partner. In America, even the fattest and ugliest girl can find a guy, but in Sweden, roles can chance. If you are short but perfect in every other situation, it can be tolerable.

Swedish guys dont like height difference at all. Average height for Swedish guys are 183cm so girls around 175-180 are ideal according to average Swedish guy. The taller guys prefer taller than this range and the shorter guys prefer shorter of course. But I think height is not primary criteria for some as long as you are between 160-190 cm.

There are plenty of immigrants here. If you dont have any strong preference to Swedish guys, than you may find a guy. Swedish guys are little picky about height. They prefer their girl +-10cm from their own height.

Well that explains when I suddenly become attractive to men when I travel to different parts of Europe.

I guess tall woman stand out more, have long legs, more model like. They may just not like big height difference. Who knows?

In nordic countries, (Sweden, Norway, Denmark) being tall is a big plus. you are longer than their average and i think for most of them, it is enough to make you attractive.

I'm a 6'5" American of Swedish ancestry and I don't care about height all that much. I guess they're just used to everyone being tall. I'm a giant in my area surrounded by a bunch of much shorter Portuguese and Spanish people so I guess I'm used to noticing women shorter than me. When you live in a very diverse country or area I think you have more diverse beauty standards.

There is nothing more unattractive than short girls. Tallnes is mark of beauty and health. I am 6" tall and my girlfriend must be above 5"9', preferably as tall as me without heels. I really teeth on those taller woman. But there are plenty more important factors as long as girl is not dwarf type like under 5"6'

Do you belive that short stumpy legs are preferred over good shapely long legs? Or do you belive that guys love bending down to kiss a woman? There is a reason why all models are tall, I think 5"4 is too short for their ideals? In Sweden, 5"9 is height requirement to be model. Women envy them, guys teeth on them.
I personally want my girl to be tall and healthy.

Maybe in their culture they have a strong preference for women’s height, I don't know. But most guys in general doesn’t care about their dates or potential partner’s height.

For example, I’m half Asian, half Spanish with brown eyes, dark hair, tan skin and my hubs is a 6’3 Swedish man with blond hair and blue eyes. His ex girlfriend is a Swedish girl (5’10, blond hair, blue eyes and she did some modeling), but here we are, 8 years together with two lovely kids. Love don’t see color or height.

Try to think less of superficial stuff because when the right person comes along, he wouldn’t care if you didn’t pass the “ideal” height in his culture.

haha :D well, i think i am beautifull but is it enought to make me beautifull? i dont think so. but when i was at america, lots of guys think i am pretty but when i move to sweden, guys dont interested in me and they claimed it is because of height. i am member of okcupid and there are several guys who write their profile "if you are shorter than 170 dont bother to write, we dont have something common." a girl friend of mine said being shorter than average considered as being ugly in sweden, or in Europe.
