Why did my crush say hi to my friend, but not to me?

My friend use to like my crush, and when she asked him if he liked her-he said he doesn't. She did he really didn't open up to her as much as he did with me (which was a big contrast because we actually started to become friends until he told his friends that he thinks I like him and that he "thinks" he likes me back). I was so nervous that I couldn't even say a word to him. I don't know if his crush on me increased or not, but whenever I see him in the hallway he just looks at me with raised eyebrows and opens/closes his mouth as if he wanted to say something--but decided to walk faster and avoid getting closer to me. When my crush was walking down my friend made it obvious that I liked him by saying, "there's your boyrfriend" like my crush's friends would tease me by calling me his girlfriend. As I tell her to stop, I ask her how he reacted cause I didn't see. He stopped walking for a second to listen and started walking slower as we continued talking. She had a rather loud voice and tried to talk quieter and he was a few feet away. I am not sure if he heard her mentioning that I liked him. He was a few feet away, on the other end of the hallway. The next day in the morning when the same friend and I are walking by my crush and his friend (who is the first to notice me and smiled knowingly) my crush said hi to my friend, but he completely avoided looking at me. His friend however, had all had both of his eyes on me and not my friend. A few seconds after, I hear him asking his friend "how'd she react?". Was that an attempt just to get me jealous because he gave her attention? Or did he do it to see my reaction? If it is both, please explain. I have no idea how he'd act in school tomorrow, because his friend said I didn't look jealous. Would that make my crush try harder into making me jealous, or would he try to just tell me he likes me when he knows I won't buy his games?
