Why do guys always want me to text them pictures of myself?

I have a profile on a few dating websites and it seems like whenever me and a guy I meet on there exchange phone numbers they always ask me to text them pictures of myself (they're not telling me to send nudes pic or anything, just a picture). I mean, I do understand that it's important to know what someone looks like which is why I have a variety of pictures, including full body shots, on my profile on those dating websites. I have plenty of pictures on my profile which they must've seen, so why do they need more? If I've seen their pictures online I don't feel like I need them to send me more. I feel like if they want to see me beyond the pictures on my profile why can't we just meet in person? Maybe it's not a big deal, but it does bug me. I think if a boyfriend asked me to send him a picture of myself maybe I would be flattered, but texting pictures to random guys I've never met is not appealing. Do guys think I'm more likely to be who I say I am if I can send them pictures from my phone for something? We already live in a world where texting and social media seems to replace face to face interaction sometimes and it seems like sending them more pictures when they've already seen my picture is just a waste of time when we could be making plans to meet in person.

To make sure they're actually talking to the same person as who they saw on the site.. Duh? Lol cuz you can make a completely fake online dating profile, but if you send a real time picture after someone's gotten your number it's less likely you just lifted it off a site.

Well that's true but maybe you look really good and they want to see you at every angle before meeting you

Ya I get that a lot.. But even guys that meet me on Facebook ask to.. Or guys that I know ask!
