What does it mean when a guy calls me 'little one'?

I've been chatting with a guy from other country and it's been like 10 days or so.
We talk a lot so we got close a bit but like 3 or 4 days ago he started to call me 'little one'
Is that an endearment for friends or what?
And he said that when he thinks of me he imagines me as a chipmunk cuz im sweet, cute and funny (Found that a bit cheesy somehow)
Does it mean that he has some kinda feelings or smth like that?
