it is said this comes from the animal side of us humans where lower ranking pack members will groom the high ranking/older members of the groupe/pack as a sign of respect.
It's the same for us humans when children play with their parents/older siblings hair act like they're picking bugs off us to show respect.

I think it's been 2-3 years now nobody played in my hairs girls fin so wonderful. Once a girl said "ohhhh your hairs are so beautifullllll:)" and i directly replyed to her "do you want to play with them?" she said "no no no..." and kind of ran away... Seriously!!!
