What does it mean when a guy gives you lipstick?

He says we're just friends but he showed up at my work close to Christmas with an expensive lipstick. He likes to give me gifts at my work too.. it's weird. what would he be thinking?

Maybe explain that if he wants your love it doesn't automatically mean he has to buy it. Just give it? I mean getting expensive gifts are nice but sometimes intimidating particularly if there isn't a way to reciprocate on a equal level. In my culture this is kind of called a gifting trap and semi disrespectful to give a gift that cannot be payed back on a equal level.
