Why does he tease me too much?

I'm class friends with this group of guys, and one of them teases me a lot. In the beginning I didn't mind, then he pointed a pencil at me when I wasn't looking so I reach out to slap his shoulder telling him to stop. And after that he just teased me a lot. I'm quiet and I get embarrassed easily like I'm really sensible so it hurts (mostly because im quiet and i try to be nice to everyone and i dont know how to respond to mean comments) in the inside but I try not to show it. He would apologize later or do nice gestures but he always teases. Sometimes is bearable others are funny but then are others where it feels like he is being mean. Well now in class when I got to my seat, I heard his friends saying "aks her out, ask her out" and they kept mentioning through class for a while. So I think he does that cuz he likes me. But I just don't like that he is mean, I mean if he did sweet gestures and actually cares for when I want him to stop and does something nice to me and said nice thinhs once in a while, then I wouldn't mind the teasing since I can be very tolerant and laid back. But I don't know, I'm hoping he doesn't ask me out cuz I don't want to hurt him nor ik what's up with him.
