He snapchatted me first then left me on read?

Ok so there is this guy at my high school (same grade as me) who I've like for probably around 2 months. It started because a few months ago I started going into the training room after school to work out and he was always in there with the football team. I'd only talked to him like twice before this and I didn't even really know who he was. Then after a while we would make eye contact for a while A TON while we were both working out and I would see him checking me out a lot. It doesn't sound that legit but I just really had a feeling that he liked me I don't know it's hard to explain. When I followed him on Instagram he followed back after like 10 seconds and he barely follows anyone back that he doesn't talk to. Then like 2 weeks later I added him on Snapchat. A few days ago I snapchatted him and we talked for a while. Then the next day he snapchatted me first and said "heyy," so I responded "hey" and then he left me on read. So yeah any opinions on this? I can't stop thinking about it cause I really do like him but I was just confused on why he would snap me first then just never respond.

Also I forgot to say this before but he's a pretty confident guy. Like we have a mutual friend and she told me that he's usual pretty straight up when it comes to girls so he's not the kinda person to shy away from a conversation with a girl lol.
