What i can understand from the following expression would be the fact that he started to establish feelings for you in a particular way but he is not sure what the feeling is standing for. Is it love or is it just lust? Is it a stable affection or just a passable infatuation. A certain but unrecognizable feeling.

It's also possible maybe the guy is talking about lust and sexual attractiveness indirectly as he might be shy or not finding it appropriate to be upfront and confront it straightly.
