Why does my crush pat my head?

so I like this guy and I feel like he likes me too. but he's different like any guy I've ever liked. first off: he's shy. I've never liked a shy person before and the good thing is he's opened up with me more and not so shy now. second: he touches me a lot like giving hugs and he plays with my hair, stuff like that. but the most confusing thing he does is pat my head!! what does a pat on the head mean? doesn't that mean he sees you as a friend?

If you have accomplished something (like very good marks in a test), and he pats your head when you tell him about it, that's a way of saying 'Keep it up, baby!'.
That could also indicate that he sees you as a friend only.

Headpatting, to me, is how you tell someone they're adorable. Like petting a dog. Now, he might just be so inexperienced that he thinks tricks that would work on his dog would work on girls, but that's besides the point.

He cares you the most... He truly loves you.. I believe things like patting mean more than sex.
