Why is my friends with benefits suddenly acting this way?

I ended things with my friends with benefits of a couple years 3-4 weeks ago. He seemed super bummed when it happened and asked if we are still friends. I said yes ofcourse. He used to go out to a certain bar every weekend for as long as I can remember. Ever since I ended things he's been different. He's not on social media anymore. He is distant with his friends and family (they told me), he hasn't been to the bar at all and I even text him asking him "you don't like the bar anymore? Lol" and he replied with "no haven't been out lately just relaxing". Let me mention that he is a big partier so this is odd for him. Why would he suddenly be acting this way? Do you think because of me? I don't know if I should say something to him. Also he's been messaging me more than he used to. He's now sending me random hearts and emojis with no writing in the messages, just emojis. What's going on?
