Does delay in replying text message indicates disinterest on his part?

When sending a text message to a guy and don’t get an immediate response or until many hours later or even days, does that mean rejection or disinterest on his part? Just wanna confirm it with all the men out there. Thanks

Well, I'm a dude and I based on what I've seen, delay in texting can have different reasons then just disinterest and doesn't have anything related to gender. Me, for example, right now I'm interested in a girl, which is very away from the social network. She takes a lot of time in responding, and yes, that freaks me out. Sometimes we have long funny and nice conversations, but from time to time she gets bipolar and just don't answer or gives that shitty answer "well, that's cool!" and that's it! haha. I did something last month that made me feel very good about this situation. I just relaxed for a while when I was getting upset with the delay and told her on facebook to talk with me when she could and the conversation was something like this:
- Can we talk about something?
- Ofc, what is it?
- I don't know if I'm wrong or not, but I just wanted to clear it up with you..
- Omg, you are freaking me out, haha. Is everything ok?
- I'm alright, it's just that sometimes I think you are way too distant..
- Hmm.. Well, maybe it's because I've been thinking too much about that job oppotunity, that's gonna be awesome!
- Indeed! hehe
- Are you drunk?
- No :( hahaha
and then we just had a normal conversation and kept seeing each other. But it was necessary for me to understand her better.
But it's when I get personally in touch with her that I can tell if things are ok or not. In my case I understood that she just have a different lifestyle from mine, but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy each other when we can. Now it's up to each person what kind of relationship they want. I can tell we have a weird one.

I can't speak for all, but I know for me, that if the conversation doesn't need an immediate answer, I will read the message but I don't always respond if I can't carry the conversation. Sometimes I also get side tracked. For instance I'm driving and even tho I read the messages, I won't respond while I'm driving(not big on driving and texting). So I think it varies from person to person.

It's the worst when you have a blackberry and the person (especially a female) sees that you have read the message and have not responded.

Ugh this used to bother me so badly. I think a lot of girls go through this because girls and guys tend see view communication differently. Girls tend to judge a guy's affection from their texts (the speed, length, content etc of the reply) while guys tend to communicate only when they feel it's necessary. Of course there are always exceptions but this seems to hold true for most people I know. So I just gotta tell myself that guys don't bond through texts, they bond through actually being (or attempting to be) with the girl.

This is what I think: it's safe within the day because they might have work, be busy, forgot to bring their phone, whatever. But if the reply comes after more than two days, it's probably disinterest. Nowadays people probably check their phone at the very least once a day...and plus if he's interested, then he won't delay his reply. If he's making you wait because he's playing hard to get, then you won't want that kinda guy anyways. I'd probably give up after a few days, like 4 or 5. Once I've had a reply come after two weeks :S

I think it depends on the guy, because it happened to me too - with email instead of text - and this guy I like didn't email back and I thought the world was coming to an end, that he didn't like me anymore, that he wanted to blow me off, etc. Turns out he was just busy and didn't think a thing of it. I was the one freaking out about nothing. Just talk to this guy and ask him why he didn't respond. He will tell you, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I think we girls need to realize that guys don't think like we do. At all. And also guys know that if they don't text or mail back then we are gonna freak and wonder why...its sad but true. It creates interest. And sometimes worry and sometimes even hurt.

Ahh I always wondered this too! But recently saw how different guys are. My ex and I would text ALL DAY LONG! usually back to back without much space between. I recently met a new guy, who I was talking to that didn't like to text, and I could tell that right off! Sometimes he would text right back, other times it be hours later..when we first started talking sometimes a day or 2 between, until he knew I like him too. I asked him and he told me he didn't like to text much.. He'd rather be on the phone. We talked for 9 months, after we both realized we liked each other. I suggest keep texting him (not too much!) lol just enough to show him your interested, if he doesn't come around within a few weeks..then id start to wonder, or let him text you first. g'luck!

Hope you don't mind a girl's answer. How long has it been since you texted him? Keep in mind a guy's schedule can vary, he can be pre-occupied, or even having a bad day and in no mood to "chat", but try not to take this personal. Guys need their space too. If I haven't gotten a response by the end of the day I would send a friendly Hey you, how was your day? And if they still haven't responded, I would say Next!

Sometimes I leave my phone laying around for hours without checking it. Sometimes it runs out of battery and I don't charge it for a day. I always respond when I read it though.
