Why does my friend guy refer to me as 'boo'?

He always refers to me as boo, and I don't want to get the wrong interpetation. for example, the other day we were texting each other and I said 'I miss u' then he texted back ' I miss you too boo.' and another time we were texting and I asked how he was and he said 'Fine and you boo?' Is he trying to make me feel special like I'm his girlfriend, because I told him I like him and he confirmed that he wasn't ready for a relationship yet? Or is he doing this just to be friendly?

I don't know what to think, but when I told him I liked him he said he wasn't ready for a relationship but the thought of me and him together has been on his mind...So I'm guessing that means he likes me.

I'm not sure, he really confuses me...

where I come from it is a derogatory phrase, short for jigaboo, which is another dergogotory phrase for a black person. it ranks up there with the 'n' word and 'colored folk'. it is a term that I remember my grandparents use in the 60's and 70's, some up to they died.

that does not make it right. I am not racist. it can also be used as a term of endearment.

would depend on your race, his race, age and the way it was used looking at your pic if that is you then you are young and it may be used more as a term of endearment

He's probably calling you "boo" as some may call people "hun," "dear," etc.

Or did he start calling you "boo" after you told him you liked him?

after I told him I like him, like a couple months after, and he's always being really nice to me...Idk if its just what I don't see, but he doesn't talk to his other female friends like he does to me, never has...But I don't know how to read him, maybe I'm wrong about him liking me.

If he isn't talking to any of his other female friends in the same manner as you, take that as he has interest in you. Just go with the flow of things, and see where they lead the two of you.

It's a nickname, don't worry. It would make much more sence if your name or second name began with, or contained, something along the lines of "boo"
