My boyfriend and I have been dating for about six months, and he's recently brought up the idea of a threesome. As a girl who is pretty intent on monogamy, I was a little startled - what does this mean?

Is he bored of me? Or worse, is this his way of cheating on me but with my permission?

It has nothing to do with his attraction to you.

He will let you choose the girl so it can't be any particular girl. It is a common fantasy and he would still want to do it with any girlfriend he had. Its not like you are not enough so he wants someone else, he just wants a threesome. Not every guy wants threesome. Some guys are not into it or are loyal enough/respectful enough.
There are however some guys (and girls) who do enjoy it.

Here are two things that should be considered:
1) your feelings !! If you dont like it, u don't like it. Also.. if you don't like the fact that he suggests or wants it, you're also free to leave the relationship with no guilt or regret. As soon as there is no compatibility the relationship shouldn't be forced any further.
Also... it matters a lot whether or not he cares what you think. If he keeps pushing that idea and trying to force it, you should know he's not worth your time or emotions. If he respects your decision and feelings - then there is no problem.

2) it's been just 6 months since the relationship started. Which to me can indicate that this is just the tip of the iceberg. You could be right about it all. I have friends, and we talk. Most guys have fantasies about a threesome with two girls. Pretty much every guy! This doesn't mean he is bored, or wants someone else.
