Drugs are always bad. They're the worst. I used to have a couple for neighbours. The husband was a drug- addict but they loved eachother a lot. He tortured her most of the time but when he wasn't high, which was rare, he treated her so well. They were very poor and he eventually got arrested.

I don't know how much you'll take notice, but this guy is no good. You're making the naive mistake of thinking that he's somehow different to the way many people think he is, that he's sweet and nice deep down, so you're looking past his negative points.
Most of us make these dumb choices when we're younger, I did too. Everybody tells you a certain kind of person is no good, maybe your friends tell you to stay away, and you think "fuck them they don't know him/her like I do, s/he's different" - just like every other person who has ever dated them. Those other people are usually right and they know because they dated the exact same kinds of people and thought the exact same things, and it almost always turns out that the stereotype is true.
You can't trust a man like that as much as you want to. Sometimes they're just dishonest, other times they mean what they say when they tell you these things but they lack impulse control. I know this because I've known guys like this - guys who sold drugs, loan sharks, gun dealers (illegal in the UK). Real "bad boys". I hung with the wrong crowd when I was young and naive and thought it was cool, but I grew up and had nothing to do with them once I realised that it really isn't.
Those guys are in and out of jail. They all cheat on their wives and girlfriends. Many become abusive at some point. They're always sweet at first though, and those girls think the same way you're thinking right now. Is that the kind of guy you want?
You have to ask yourself why they do that - they do it because they have no strong morals and most of their friends are probably scumbags also, and they all influence each other. If they party a lot they're often off their heads on drink and drugs, and if they lack impulse control they're likely to cheat.
When you're young that stuff seems fun and exciting, but when you grow up if you're head is right you see how fucked up it all is.
I see girls mock the guys who are criticising you for this, but there's some truth to what those guys are saying. These guys are clearly bad yet girls like yourself choose them and then wonder why they get fucked over despite being warned. Use your head.

If nearly everyone but you sees this kid in a negative light there’s probably good reason and you definitely need to have a clear understanding of what that reason is before moving forward. Good people with bad habits are still recognizably good by many. They may be controversial but they are never completely disliked.
