I'm in the senior year of high school. There's one particular teacher in my school who I have a special relationship with. At the end of the last year, me and few of my classmates invited him for a drink since we thought it's gonna be the last day he'll teach us. In the pub, he told me that I'm beautiful and if he could, he'd sleep with me. I didn't get freaked out, because I think that he's really attractive so I was more of like glad that he said that. A reminder - I'm 18, he's 55. Don't judge me, I've got a thing for older guys. An important thing to say is that he's mostly very reserved and seems cold, but not towards me. He often gives me advices and I have the privilege to call him by his first name. Well, yesterday was my prom and he was there. And we danced. At the end of that dance, he couldn't get off me, he just held me and we talked and then he said that he has to go and kissed me on the cheek. What does this all mean?

What do you think it means? He said he would sleep with you and you are getting signs of attraction from this man. Conventional opinion states intimate relationships between student and teacher is not warranted and I agree with this as well, only partially. I’m sure there has been many teachers who have been in relationships with adult students and things have worked or turned out okay or well. Of course this entails that the student is not under the responsibility of the teacher anymore and that the student doesn’t go to the institution that the teacher is currently teaching. I do not know the laws or rules regarding this topic, so anyone can correct me if I’m wrong. Another question, does he know your exact age? Have you told him? The age difference is significant and I doubt you two have many things you’d be able to connect on or relate to. This can be an issue for a relationship. Also, why do you think you’re in much older men? Do you have father issues of some sort? Perhaps you like this man because he fulfills something that you’ve been lacking in your life, perhaps a father figure? I’m not sure, but the reason why I bring this up is due to my own curiosity and extra things for you to consider moving forward that can possibly help you in whatever decisions you make.

It's a matter of preferences for me. As for the father figure - I've got a great relationship with my dad, so that's not the issue here. It's the same as when guys prefer blondes over brunettes - I prefer middle-aged men over sloppy teenagers. The age issue - yes, he does know that and he doesn't seem to mind. I'm not really interested in a relationship with him, I'm not good at them. I'm much better at "friends with benefits" kind of stuff.

It depends on the laws where you are. In the United states, your being a legal adult usually does not matter. If the person is a teacher at your current high school (sometimes your entire school district, sometimes your entire state), it is still often a crime for the teacher.
