Do guys with sisters tend to approach girls differently? Growing up with females in the household should give most guys some real insight of how girls work.

Do you have sisters and do you think that has given you some advantage in approaching and talking to girls? (compared to guys you know that do not have any sisters)

The questing isn't only meant to be only about if it helps in your dating life. I wonder about all kinds of social situations like example with friends and colleagues.

No advantage that I can determine. I have an older sister and older brother and none of us got along in the slightest growing up. We're all fine now that we're older and not living in the same house, but growing up, we hated each other's guts with a passion.

Anything that came out of our moths was to attack or criticise, or mock or insult or get the other in trouble.

We rarely supported each other, never helped each other with our problems and we all kept our distance from each other.

There was no advice from anybody in regards to relationships or how to talk to the opposite sex, even our parents were kind of shit when it came to that stuff. We all figured things out on our own.

The only advantage I gained from having siblings was that I learned how to fight, how to take a hit and that any insults and mockery anybody could throw my way was trivial in comparison to the venom I received from my brother and sister. My brother attacked with physical damage and my sister used psychological damage. I used manipulation from the shadows so they'd get in shit without my direct involvement.

Again, we all get along now that we're all grown up and there are no hard feelings.

Im more curious wondering why you would think having a sister would benefit guys in regards to dating... I never saw my sister in any relation to other girls... She was her own special "Thing" when I was growing up. She was a girl, yes, but that was where it ended.

Haha I totally agree with your thoughts on that siblings will teach you how to be defensive and fight. I'm glad you get along nowadays! ☺️

I have five brothers. And I have found myself in many situations where my female friends can't figure out boys behavior and thoughts when it's instantly obvious for me. (Although I grew up with a close relationship to my brothers. And I've always been observing. Maybe that plays a huge role)

On the other hand I have a hard time actually connecting with girls. I feel like an alien in conversation with them. And they often say I'm different.

So I just wanted guys thoughts on the subject. I've met a lot of guys with sisters that act differently from guys who doesn't have sisters. It's quite interesting reading about it 😊

Interesting. No, my sister spent as little time around us as possible and was usually either out with her friends, or in her room away from all of us, or bitching about her life and all of us.

So there wasn't any real opportunity for me to "learn" what girls were like growing up, other than being petty, back stabby and bitchy.

I always missed flirting, clues or what girls meant when they said things. I also missed out on a lot of things and relationships because I was so oblivious. Yet at that same time, I have more female friends than guy friends and always looked out for them when I could and was there to support their issues at times.

Oh well.

I didn't really have any tricks. I just had no confidence growing up, never figured any girls were interested in me so I never showed any interest. I would just hold conversations with them and talk about whatever.

I think it was mostly because I acted like a friend and didn't make any moves that made me interesting as a guy friend with no risks of that friendship getting ruined... And I wasn't a girl to compare to or get jealous of.

That, and later I learned I was actually pretty hot and a lot of girls did like me, but because I showed no interest in them, perhaps they thought I was gay or something, I dunno.

Well I know a guy who grew up with several sisters and was raised by his mother (parents divorced). He's artistic, good with guitar, piano, and also a high ranker in Putnam (elite math competition - not sure if coincidence but a lot of people who do math at this level tend to compose music). So this guy used to share an apartment with me, my friend and his girlfriend. Basically my friend's girlfriend fell head over heels for this guy after he taught her piano (lol). She literally sneaked into his room to have sex with him, they fucked each other so hard the sound from their bed disturbed my sleep (I was the poor roommate)... Anyway my friend went full crazy mode because he couldn't believe it happened, he looked at her fb and her phone (he knew the passwords) and found a lot of kinky stuffs from their messages, apparently they had oral sex at a clothing store lol
So there were a lot of drama and fight after that. IN CONCLUSION I think this guy does approach women differently :) he's probably not the guy you want your girlfriend near lol
And then there's me, I have a sister, but I never really talk to her, we never got along well before I moved out so that doesn't really give me any advantage when approaching women but I think I'm a pretty good friend.

Interesting i like this question, i thought about it myself.

I grew up with brothers, but my mum was always very open and respectful of people, she often came to us (after being teenagers with no gfs) and told us if we were gay thats totally fine with her! .. she's a warm person and my friends always took to her.

As a teenager the internet came about, i used to hang about in chat rooms and around the age of 16 i started chatting to some older women, they were mid/late 20s living in the states (so miles from me), but they used to be like older sisters to me, telling me whats right and wrong when it comes to women and i learnt a lot... sounds a bit weird now looking back, but it helped me out a lot

I have come across a few guys over my years growing up, i prefer female company but have had the odd guy friend, and the few i gotten to know all had sisters and were all nice to women and are very honourable people. So... from that small sample, i guess so?

If I say yes, having sisters, then it is an exercise in boasting of my personal circumstances. Everyone has an opportunity to bridge the gulf between the genders as we're coming up. It's possible you have a measure of compassion and what dames are going through somewhat more. Usually just the former may work against you, enhanced by what company you're around. Either way, both women and men should get a good sense of what true opportunity unveils in taking a chance.

I do not have sisters but I have a few life long close gal pals... they definitely help shape my approach and perspective of women. Which frankly has not been for the better since through them I learned just how sneaky and deceptive women truly can be. Which on my end contributes largely why I am damn difficult to get me to fall for anyone so I have a long string of casual liaisons.

All my older friends with sisters and including my dad feel their sisters are manipulative liars and theives. Going by that, I cannot imagine men with sisters adds amy extra courage to them when approaching women. Hell, my dad was shy and me with no sister am not shy. So, beats me. All I can say is sisters and women friends can skew your perspective of women.

Well, perhaps but I’m not sure. Not every woman is going to be the same so just because you are an expert in how your sisters act doesn’t mean you’ll be able to become an expert in every woman you meet. I think that a man with sisters has certain insights into women as opposed to a man who didn’t grow up with a lot of women in his household, that remains obvious.

As a girl with five brothers I find myself fairly understanding of guys. I don't know everything ofc but it has helped me if I compare myself to other female friends.

I have an older sister and the only thing I can see that she would have changed about me compared to other guys is how I view women. She taught me how to treat them, but not how to approach etc. She also raised me in place of my mother though. However I still don't approach women sooo, maybe one day what she's taught me will be used.

I think if I had an older brother it would have been more educational. But I only have a younger sister, so being the oldest I run into all the problems first and have to figure them out myself. I never had any good role models. What I needed was male role models that didn't listen to women and instead just did things, always doing, working, building. That's what I needed.

Oh absolutely. I'm with you on that one. Having a role model of the same sex is an important aspect. I'm the opposite tho, only have brothers and no female role models. I can see how that would have helped in many of the situations you bump into growing up. ☺️

I say yes. I have two sisters, and over my time being the youngest sibling I have seen, from my oldest sister, that women truly can be emotional even while they are logical and really smart; and, from my second oldest sister, that girls are just as capable of bullying and antagonistic behaviours as men are. These experiences have not warped my view of women, but really humanized me and provided insight to how they behave.

Absolutely! Girl Bambi eyes never worked on me I'm immune to that BS. Or any time that they act helpless in order to get you to do something for them.
My father however did not have sisters and didn't understand that women shouldn't be treated different and thus gives them preferential treatment over me to this day.

I don't have a sister (I do, but haven't seen her in decades, only knew her for a couple months as a kid). I'm terrified of what may come if I misstep around women. I can't see how it would make a difference. I mean when you approach someone you want to date you're going to be talking to them but you're also gonna be flirting - unless you're fucked up you're not gonna flirt with your sister.

I have two older sisters but the younger one is still 5 years older than me and one of them moved out at the age of 13 while the other moved out when I was 13 so I never was that close to them, especially what concerns the way girls work. I don't understand how humans work in general though so I don't know if it would have helped.

Well I can take my life for example, Im a girl with 5 brothers, 2 younger and 3 older. There's in many social situations that this have been helpful to me, like understanding male friends and colleagues thought processes and dilemmas. I'm told to be more understanding of guys than most girls they have met before.
So I'm just interested in how guys find it helpful, as girls tend to be hard to understand.
