Before someone writes another pontificating answer about how I’m a tease or leading this “guy” on, I’m not in this situation. There was a meme posted on Facebook about how guys react when you remind them that they’re in a relationship or married and someone commented this question. I just wanted to ask GaG the same question. Sheesh! 🙄😒

They probably were entertaining the idea that you were into them and if that were the case you would have been doing it knowing they were married but were so into them that it didn't matter to them, which is probably a huge ego boost. And then you pull the rug out from under that ego by reminding them that they have a wife - they might perceive that as having all prior perceived flirting to be teasing them, making them think they had any appeal, when really you were only joking or didn't know you were flirting and/or that they were flirting with you.

It's like when I got a new kitten a while back, it used to run at me sideways in an attempt to demonstrate its dominance. I thought it was extremely cute and ended up petting it when it did that. But the kitten was rather hoping I would run in terror. When a guy flirts with you he hopes that you flirt back, accepts if you just ignore him, but might take it patronizing if you only pretend to flirt back.

to your update: I wasn't intending to imply that you were a tease (intentionally or otherwise) but that he might have been interpreting it that way, likely due to a lack of perspective on his part.

But since you are a third party here, I'll just point out that it has become a trend for cheaters to despise whistle-blowers..

It's disrespectful. Like I'm not here to cheat on my girlfriend so why are you reminding me like I am? It's so potentially damaging to a person when people just casually go "You know you got a girlfriend right?"

Like, hey maybe I was just talking to someone who works in the same field as me. Maybe I thought she'd be a cool person to hang out with after work, maybe my girlfriend and I are in an open relationship and I'm feeling this chick out. Mind your own business!! Haha

I mean, it's fine when people say something quietly just to you but it never goes down like that.

And then it's just embarrassing. Makes the other person not want to talk to you and ruins what may have otherwise been a totally platonic conversation

Why are you dragging out a situation where you would find that something he needed to be reminded of?
That is your answer. Whatever game you were playing up until the point you reminded him or you or both, that he is taken, Gave him an impression. When the game stops the impression is affected.
