Is 7/10 a good rating for looks?

There this guy that I find attractive..
We were just talking
And I said he's attractive
And he said he thinks Im attractive as well
But then when I asked him: rate me out of 10 in terms of looks
And he replied:
"7/10"

I'm quite disappointed
I feel like that's an average rating...

7+/10 is above average. Average is 4-6/10 is average. Below 4/10 is below average. Most people (more than 50%) are in the average range, so he thinks you are better looking than a significant portion of the population. It's definitely a compliment

This is why I don't rate women.
There is absolutely no way to determine who is what because there is no set standard for any rating.
I'm not going to tell a woman she's a 7/10 and point out the next woman is a 9/10. That's useless.
An attractive woman is an attractive woman. That's all that matters.

Yes. It's realistically the best you could expect.
Once you get to 8 and especially 9 and 10, it becomes much more subjective and diverges between guys. From 7 and below we can generally agree and 5 iss usually about the threshold for "I'd hit that, but not date." 6 would be on that fence, a 6 that fits your type is very much datable. 7 is definitively attractive. And form there one man's 8 is another man's 10 and visa versa, so it's less meaningful at those extremes.

7/10 is pretty average rating to me, yes.
It's perfectly dateable, but I would not exactly call a 7 attractive or beautiful.

But it really depends on how everyone interprets their scale.

No. 7 is above average and he likely rated you lower just to screw with your ego. Me, I wouldn't have given an answer. I abhor the "rating" system. But I would say, "yeah, you're alright." Just to mess with ya.
