I went on a date
And he said "you're cute"
Depends on the guy. I pretty much group the terms together. You girls stress out over SO many things that don't matter, this is definitely one of them. I've had exactly zero conversations with my buddies ever about should I call her cute? should I call her pretty? should I call her gorgeous?
No, don't gaf.
Cute it's just the easy way out. Sometimes guys wanna compliment a girl and say "your eyes are stunning and your lips get me excited"
But they are worried that's too strong and the girl might take it the wrong way so we say "your so cute" because it's the safe option.
1. I always get called "cute" even at 31 lol but I been told because I have this girl next door look.
2. Hot and sexy are the type, you want to sleep with.
3. Pretty/beautiful are the ones that you can't help but stare at and think how genes/biology can make something that stunning...
I don't see how a person can be cute if they're not pretty (or handsome if they're male).

In my experience too many girls get hung up on whether there are significant distinctions between cute, pretty, beautiful, gorgeous, etc. As far as my aesthetic appreciation for girls' appearances goes there are not significant distinctions between these terms. A cute girl is beautiful to me for example.
They are both positive compliments. And sometimes guys just have no idea how to compliment women. That was probably the best thing he could squeak out in the moment, but don't hold it against him. However if he keeps saying "cute" everyday for the next two weeks, you can start getting on his case. (Some guys just don't have a big vocabulary either.)
So men have a dual mating strategy as women do. Girls who are ‘cute’ or ‘pretty’ are the ones we marry and take home to mom. Girls who are hot are the ones we pump and dump. While there is a difference between ‘cute’ or ‘pretty’, they’re very closely related.

I'm not sure what he means but, I was joking around with the girl that likes me today, she asked me what I was drinking, and I said "just a coke", and I said "yeah, pretty boring" and she says "nah, you're cute though"
I'm not sure what she was trying to imply
It depends on the guy saying it, but often it goes hand in hand. Hot even also. For me anyway. I know women view it differently, but we don't usually analyse that much what we say, so often it's just a choice of words we've used, but the meanings go hand in hand.
To me, it generally means she has a pretty face… What other guys think I have no idea.
Depends. It varies a lot between guys. It’s not something to would be able to analyze.
I would say pretty, is more about adornment and presentation. Think flowers plus attraction.
While cute is about endearment and directly attractive features. Think puppies or kittens plus attraction.
Obviously, these to words are not interchangeable.
But what they have in common: they express attraction.
Also: they don't exclude each other.
Agreed mostly. I can recognize a woman as "cute" with no sexual desire at all.
Usually when I think she's cute I think she's pretty as well. These two terms are quite connected if you ask me. I don't think that you can be cute without being pretty also
I'm not native English speaker, "cute" means for me "good looking, but not my type". The "hot" bait lures me...
"Cute" doesn't even mean "cute," between one guy and another. It may not even mean the same thing to the same guy at two different times.
They're not the same word, so, naturally, they do not mean exactly the same thing. But both are usually a compliment, and both words mean that he finds you at least somewhat attractive. So it can't be all bad!
Cute and pretty are the same like hot and sexy are the same. Hot is different than cute but pretty and cute are the same. For example those flowers are cute/pretty where did u get them
I think a cute girl is someone with pretty smile and a lovely personality. I don't talk for all the guys, just my opinion :3
I know they're referring to "small" and/or "amusing" when people call me cute.
It's easier to be cute if you're pretty, but it definitely doesn't equal "attractive". Pets and babies can be "cute". It's really more about certain attributes than looks.
For myself I would see cute as not pretty. Cute means childlike appearance so I won't see it as compliment. But everyone has different take on it.
It can mean different, but similar things. Someone can be both cute and pretty too. It has a lot to do with their face.
They don't mean exactly the same thing, but generally for a girl past puberty if someone calls you cute they mean you're pretty.
Pretty refers to beauty, while cute can be a behavior, humor, or outward beauty. Cute is a broad term to me.
