What does it mean when guy calls you my dear over texting? And does it mean anything?

This guy and I started talking online, then exchanged numbers two days later. Ever since we've been talking everyday. It's been about almost a month now. I want to meet him and hang out. but due to what's going on with the virus and everything I do not want to risk getting anyone sick. Anyway. He stopped texting me first and I don't know why. Usually he'll text me in the morning. But anyway. So he texted me today and said, hope i'm having a good day and said i am and asked him what he was doing. He was said he was chilling at home. I jokingly said are you social distancing? with a laugh emoji and he just said I am at home by my self with an annoyed emoji... So I don't know he knows what that is or not. But I just told him i was kidding and said have a good night ttyl. And he said you to my dear. So I have no idea what that means... we both kind of like each other, but none of us really confirmed anything and last time i checked he was still active online while texting me the whole time so I don't know.

We are all grumpy. If we stay we are relatively safe but there is a lot of uncertainty. I’d suggest you ask if you can set up a time to actually talk on the phone. Even if nothing happens with him in the future you both will have human contact. This could be a long isolation

That wasn't even the answer to what I asked. I know we're suppose to stay inside. I thought he got my joke but apparently didn't. And I told him, we can meet when this quarantine thing is over. And who knows when that will be, but I think if he was really interested he would wait or get back in touch with me. Its only been a 2 or 3 weeks since we've been talking.

He wouldn't be Indian by any chance, as I've noticed over the several years of being here, that they always seem to have the tendency to refer to us (women) as "dear".

In that case then, there might just be some sincerity or affection in his message.
As always though, it's virtually impossible to understand anything a guy is thinking or applying.

Hmm, I don't know if he said that cause he was annoyed i tried to be silly by asking him if he was social distancing. Or if he actual meant it in a sincere or affection way. there was no enthusiasm.

Mood swings maybe, because of being quarantine and all the things, give him sometime.. i think everything will return to normal..
