I noticed men call other men a simp if they don't agree with the group or give a woman compliment. I saw a comment were a guy called this one guy a simp cause he was complimenting on this woman's beauty, and the other men's reactions was like are you serious? He wasn't kissing up to her or acting like a obsessed dog he was just acknowledging her beauty and that was enough for him to be called a simp.
I also noticed if a guy calls out another man's bad behavior towards a woman that will get him called a simp or a male feminist, when in reality he's not white knighting it's just that person really was being an a hole for no reason was called out. Now yes a guy can be a simp or simp if he's putting all his time an energy to a woman who just flat out lets him know or makes it obvious she wants nothing to do with him or using him and he still following after her. That's what real simping is other wise, it just seems like if a guy has a genuine reason to disagree with another man on something that has to deal with women regardless of feminism or whatever.. they get called a simp.

It’s a word invented by incels. They wanted a way to shame guys for being nice to women. They also wanted to use it as another way to shame sex workers by shaming the men that gave them money. There are some instances where I think it is ok to shame guys for giving money for example men who give tons of money to girl streamers is kind of sad and pathetic but I’ve had people call me simp online just for saying I buy flowers for my girlfriend. Most of it is toxicity and another way for incels to “get back” at women and try to shame guys who are in loving relationships. I think incels believe that if guys are mean and insulting to women that it will lower women’s self esteem and that it will make it easier for them to have sex in real life because women’s self esteem will be so low that they will have a chance.
I think you're talking about two extremes. I believe they call "a simp" a guy who is dominated by a woman, or women in general. Another extreme would be someone who mistreats them. Neither one is desirable
Someone who defends a woman's actions no matter what she does even if its horrible. A man that will accept a cheater back into his life is a simp. To be honest, I've been describing anyone as a "simp" for siding with the mob, not having their own opinions, being too scared to stand up for themselves, essentially a coward. Anyway, based off of the acronym, I'd say that a SIMP is a guy who tries way too hard for girls in the hopes that said girl will screw with them. Oftentimes, the girl's looks won't be so dashing as to break any beauty pageant records as well, though there are exceptions.
