I see you're under 18 and you're in your adolescent age so this is normal to be be nervous to hug someone especially someone of opposite sex and of same age.

You can just handshake if you're not comfortable or just say hi, If he is your good friend then you can talk to him and he will understand.

If you feel its okay to hug but due to nervousness you can't, then you can try hugging sideways. It's not that awkward like it feels front hugs.
