Hugging? Why won't he hug me but has no problem huggingng anyone else?

My guy friend teases me constantly, always smiling when he I'm around. Can not literally help himself from teasing me or playfully making fun. He is always careful to not directly come to me to chat but is always around.

One thing I've noticed is despite being friends and out playful banter back and forth, is that he keeps a careful distance. In fact with hugging, we just don't. He won't. Its just awkward. EHe has absolutely no problem hugging everyone else. Why, if we are so playful, does he suddenly cower away?
