Why won't my guy friend hug me anymore?

My boyfriend and I have a mutual guy friend. I met him through my boyfriend. In the beginning when I first met him, he was affectionate and would give me hugs whenever he saw me. He was so polite. Now, all of the sudden he acts awkward when around me. A lot of times he won't make eye contact. When we are together with my boyfriend he talks to him and hardly acknowledges that I am there. Recently, we were hanging out and he said bye to my boyfriend but didn't even look at me or say anything. He has stopped showing physical affection and won't hug me anymore like he did when we first met. The last time we saw him, I initiated a hug, and he gave me a awkward "half" hug back. I just don't get what happened. Anyone have an idea of what could cause him to be acting like this?

This might sound crazy, but I think he might like you. He probably knows his feelings are wrong since you're already going out with a good friend of his. Based on what you've said I think he's trying to suppress his emotions.

Or, if you're boyfriend is the jealous type, maybe he warned your mutual friend about getting too friendly with you?

My last guess is the one I really don't want to be true, and it's probably wrong, but maybe you're boyfriend cheated and your friend doesn't know how to let you know so he's just keeping his distance? (Again this last one is probably wrong or even crazy hahaha)

No. I'm always friendly with him and never did or said anything that would cause him to shut off like that.

He has developed feelings for you and he decided to stop giving you much attention because that would be wrong. That or your boyfriend told him to stop the physical affection thing and he respects his wishes

have you tried asking your boyfriend if he talked with him alone or something?

No I haven't, but I have thought about it. I have noticed that in the last few weeks whenever my boyfriend and I are talking about him, my boyfriend will make negative comments about him. For example, "I feel bad for any girl that ends up with him" or "he is lazy".

probably they had a fight or some discussions and he is just "paying respects"? I don't know I'm just throwing theories here, don't over think it and do something bad
