What does it mean when a guy unfollows a girl?

I’ve been seeing this guy for a little while now and I mentioned the name of a girl who made my life hell, he then went on to tell me he was talking to her for a bit but it fizzled out. He’s quite active on social media and I’d noticed before that he had recently liked a few of her pictures. The day after I mentioned how cruel she was to me he unfollowed her. Why would he do that?
