My boyfriend wants me to watch him play video games?

This is really fucking weird. So my boyfriend keeps bugging me about how he thinks it would be cute if I watched him play video games? I really don’t see why he wants this, it is so boring for me. He doesn’t want me to play with him, he literally just wants me to sit there and watch him play games instead of going out or doing something together. Guys, is this normal behaviour?

I don't see what's the problem? If you knew that he looked to play video games and that's not your thing then you should have found somebody that can do the things that you desire for you to do. There's nothing wrong with what you're asking and there's nothing wrong with what he's asking. You're telling him to stop doing the very thing that he enjoys. You're entitled to that. But you're better off having it with someone else. And let him be with somebody who shares the same values as he does. Maybe you don't play video games or don't play it as effectively as he does. But that's something that he likes. That's what he wants to share with you. Because the moment you tried to dictate what he should do, is the moment that he's going to eventually leave you for another person anyway because he's going to grow depressed, and then you going to grow to resent and hate him for it. Best to let it end right now.

That's not the point Asker. Stop taking everything personally, this is your problem. I see that you take everything personally so now you project it in your relationships and it's hurting them. You never indicated or said that you play video games or not. You are just saying that he wants you to watch and not play. You think it's weird, granted that is your right. I may even find it a bit strange. Granted that is my opinion. However, he is trying to please you because he really likes and cares about you. Both you and he lack the proper communication and maturity to appreciate the little things about each other. And it's not even about the video games. It's about your relationship dynamic that needs work. And neither going out or playing games is going to fix the unrealistic expectations you and he have about relationships. This is YOUR relationship TOGETHER. Both you and he need to talk about what kind of relationship you both want, adapt, or find other potential partners. What more you expect or want? You picked him. Your major complaint is that sitting around and doing nothing is so boring for you. YOU said that. I didn't. Your impatient, inflexible, etc. And that isn't all bad. But that you and he may not be compatible. So you need somebody who also likes doing other external stimulation. Respect the fact that is not that person. If you're bored. Find something else productive that makes you happy. Make some new friends who enjoy what you enjoy. You won't always spend on everything together. But stop expecting him to meet your every need like a twin. He's himself, but you secretly wished he was somebody else. That doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate you but that he is unable to give you what you want. Understand that.

Only for guys into video games more than their girlfriends. Personally I think you should tell him he can stay and play but you are going out. See what he says and see where his heart really is. If he tries to change your mind then he loves video games more than you. If he is willing to put the controller down then he loves you more. I mean if he does those thing right away and not after you put up a fuss. Just tell him and see. Then you know... My guess is he prefers video games to you. Nothing against you, I don't even know you. But, I do know about him if he wants you to watch him play.

It's totally cool of him to play video games, it's just a fun activity like any other, but he should know that watching isn't the same as playing. He's just trying to share a part of his life with you, maybe you can suggest finding a co-op game that looks fun so you can play together. Just watching someone play can be quite passive, but if you're actually taking part and playing alongside him then you might find you actually enjoy it.
