Why do guys whistle at women?

I was walking with my boyfriend today outside, when a group of guys in a car rolled down their window and whistled at me.😂 they drove off. My boyfriend just froze. Why do guys do this? Why did my boyfriend seem jealous? It was literally a stranger

If the guy was with friends then he is just showing off and being silly and immature in front of his friends , yes they still think the girl is hot but they are more just showing off , Guys that whistle at girls are just trying to get her attention and hoping she notices him and hoping she looks back and smiles once she notices him , it’s an immature way of getting a girls attention, As for your boyfriend getting jealous that isn’t a good thing , that right there shows he doesn’t feel secure with you , and sadly to say he doesn’t trust you , so you might run into control issues with this guy down the road , the only way he should of got mad and jealous is if you responded to those guys by smiling back at them and loving The attention but by you not responding to their whistling he shouldn’t of got mad and jealous , so right there he doesn’t feel secure being with you , so that right there is a warning sign

Like it says in the book "Are Women the Stronger Sex?" free from Barnes & Noble, too many men will disrespect a woman if he thinks he can get away with it (or it's not illegal).
Men need to realize that we don't respect guys who act like that. But maybe they don't care. (Then they wonder why they're all alone and can't keep a decent woman in their lives.)

One, it was a power move against your boyfriend driven by jealousy. They were just trying to immaculate your boyfriend.

Two, they are cowards. Instead of giving your boyfriend an opportunity to respond, they fled. Instead of waiting around to see if you would reciprocate their behavior, they left before they could be rejected. Allowing them to pathetically gloat to each other about how they aroused you in front of her "weak ass man".

Men whistle but mostly in jest or light flirting with someone they know.

Your boyfriend probably felt insecure. Seeing other men whistle/flirt could have intimidated him. Anyway, I think they call it cat calling. They want to see the whole you. See if you’re hot and what not. But they never seem to do anything, just whistle and that’s it. Hope this helps 😊

I don't understand the jealousy, I actually enjoy it if I am with a girl and someone whistles or makes a comment towards her like that. I am with her because I like the way she looks so why shouldn't someone else think so too? The difference is I am with her... ;)
The Jealousy comes from insecurity and the guy thinks if someone else likes her then she might leave him for another... That or they think of the girl as their property only.
