Probably because he wanted to be your boyfriend, now that he knows he can't, he needs to spend 24/7 time with a different girl, and if that doesn't lead to a relationship, then he will switch girls again.

If he spends all his time with you, that creates 2 problems:
1. Your boyfriend isn't getting enough of your time because you are spending it with him.
2. he isn't going to find a girlfriend is he's spending all his time with you.

Also, if I found out that someone who spent nearly all their time with me had a boyfriend, I'd be thinking that, even if she dumped him for me, I would probably have to put up with some other guy hogging my girlfriend's time from me, so I would lose interest for that reason too.
