Guy friend sent a red heart emoji. Does this mean he likes her?

So i’m discussing this with my friend who likes this guy. Her guy friend (who is super shy and rarely shows his emotions) sent a red heart emoji at midnight on New years eve. Does this mean he likes her? So he posted a Snap story with a bandaid on his chin and she replied at 9 pm ”What happened to your face?” And he replied right after midnight ”I cut myself shaving lol. Happy new year! ❤️”

So nevermind we are nowhere near New Years just help us with this question of that means he likes her as more than a friend or not, because we have different opinions.

I’ve asked this before and got mixed responses. I have a close male friend who swears guys only send red hearts if they are interested but he seems to be in the minority on that.
