Why do guys send upper chest pics?

Me and this guy were chatting for a bit and we both shared face pictures then we continue talking for a moment then he sends me and upper chest pic (I'm not freaked out by it, but I don't like unsolicited pictures) (this happened when I was 17)

Remember that men are very different from women. When guys are younger, we sometimes assume that women think just like we do, and therefore they'd like a provocative picture from us the same way we'd like one from you. When they grow up, they start to realize how to be a gentleman, and save that behaviour for a certain "type" of woman that they don't intend to bring home to mom.

In the adult's world, people like to "scout" before making additional steps. It's normal to send almost fully naked pictures from both sides just to have the idea of if it's worth it. I personally don't do it, though.

It doesn't matter what religion or philosophy you are following, people don't usually abide by their principles, but this is how online dating works, or rather how I have experienced it. Guys tend to do this type of screening a lot and girls usually accept.

As I said, people don't want to find out that their "soul-mate" or potential partner is overweight, too skinny, not sympathetic enough or whatever.

If it's not to find out your appearance as well, he might be just attempting to boost his ego via your appreciation of his body or somehow "bait" you.

Guys send these pics unsolicited because they hope it will impress the recipient and they hope the recipient will send a similar pic in return. In this case he was probably hoping to see some cleavage.

Yes, there are plenty of guys like that. They're hoping that you're gonna be interested or impressed. Instead I'd just give them the block button. One reason they do it is them considering it a low risk high reward thing. A lot of girls stupidly continue to talk to them afterwards so they don't feel like they will lose anything by doing so.

Worst that happens = they will stop talking
General bad thing that could happen = they will talk slightly less
General neutral thing that could happen = nothing will change and they will see it as just silly
General good thing that happens = female verification
Best thing that could happen = sexual gratification

The amount of times girls would just completely ignore it or give them the verification those guys seek is absolutely bonkers. Don't do that. Thats the reason so many guys keep doing this.
