What would you call a guy who texts a girl only to congratulate her (he barely knows her so he isn’t really obligated to send a text) ?

This is sooo me right now. I am too scared to talk to a girl I really like, so when she posted an achievement on facebook recently I just congratulated her and than I didn't know what to say next. This happened at least 5 times this month. My whole DM conversation with her is just: "Congrats for X achievement! - Thanks. - So, how are you? - I'm fine." A few days past, a new post, same conversation. Girls please give us a hand!! At least don't just reply "thanks". Say something more. Like "thanks, I worked a lot to get that. thanks for noticing" or something like that, or at least add a few more emojis. Doesn't matter what emojis, because we will find a way to continue the conversation if we see that you care.

If he made the effort to find an excuse to talk to you, maybe he likes you. Just don't cut him off by just saying thanks and nothing else. If he really wanted to talk to you, maybe he thought you might not be interested if you didn't seem excited. Like "yeah, just another guy. Lemme just Ctrl+V him this "thanks" I sent to everyone"...

But I guess I can't blame you. But if you really like the guy, and he slid into your DMs to congratulate you, than maybe make him talk :)) Tell him "That's it? You slid into my DMs just for a "congratulations"? Where is the small talk that comes afterwards? :)))". Or maybe just send him a random message like "listen here you little shit" and than say "sorry, wrong chat". That could spark an interesting conversation :))

by the way months ago I did initiate conversation with him by replying to his stories and he did like to talk to me. I then got frustrated and didn't initiate contact with him and neither did he either.

Well, was this discussion (congrats - thanks) on facebook, after you posted something on your profile? If he could have answered publicly but chose to do it in the DMs, than he wants to talk and maybe he actually likes you. However if he just replied publicly, he is just friendly, however he may still think you are cute. If the discussion was on instagram and he replied to your story privately, than again, likely interested. If he just said it publicly in the comment section of a post you made, than he's just friendly.

However I don't see nothing wrong in making the first step, if you really like him. Just opening the conversation and see if he takes it anywhere. But still, I think, if you look nice, you may have no problem converting him to you :)))
