What does it mean when a guy does these kind of things?

Few weeks back a guy started texting me. He was my friend's friend. During college days when my friend asked "if you get a chance to date whom you will date?". He replied that he would date me. But we never spoke with each other before. After that incident even when we see each other he never took the initiative to speak with me. I thought he was making fun and I left that topic.

After a year (few weeks back) he texted me that "I was not able to speak with you during college days, So I texted you now". He told he was curious about me and you look calm so I thought to have a conversation with you. He didn't tell that he likes me but he told "When I first saw you I thought you were cute". He texted me continuously for one week asking about me whether you like this or that. Then for one month he didn't texted me. So I thought he was only curious to know about me.

I don't know why he is curious to know about me and I get the feel like whether he likes me. He also asked about my previous relationship and soulmates. Even though I am not the first one to text I feel like he often finds a reason to talk with me. But he never reply me immediately he will take more than 5 to 6 hours to reply. Can any one help me out with your thoughts?

Honestly, it sounds like he's only showing interest in you when it's convenient for him. You're not his first choice, you're who he resorts to when he he's bored and wants to flirt with a woman. These type of guys will say everything you want to hear, then break your heart. Make him chase you, make him work for your attention and time. If he's not willing to chase you, he's just not that into you and you should not give him your time.

So, if you're interested in him, make him chase you. Show a little bit of interest, give a little bit of a flirt so he gets the hint. Then withdraw from him. If he pursues you, he's genuinely interested. If he gives up, he's not worth your time.
