What does it mean when some men want to sleep with as many women as they can?
Some men desire a monogamous relationship, some men would prefer to sleep with as many women as possible in their lifetime. Its just preferences.
A friend of mine is married and has a kid, but toured around the world in a rock band and has probably slept with over a thousand women. Sleeping with women is one of his hobbies. I think he and his wife have an "understanding."
Basketball player Wilt Chamberlain claimed to have slept with over 20,000 women in his life. Just personal preferences. Don't try to understand; just don't try to CHANGE a man who has this hobby - the hobby will win.

There's a culture in America that tells men they're only as good as the number and caliber of women they can sleep with.
I remember feeling like I needed to prove myself. Prove that I was worthy of sex, love, whatever. I would chase girls and it was fun for a time, but I look back and it's nothing to be proud of. The majority of the encounters were at least awkward, if not desperate.
Anyway, I think for a lot of men, it means they have a sense of self-worth that is strongly tied to sex.
