A guy I’ve been talking to for a couple of months has made plans to hang out a few times but the day of something comes up and it ends up not working out. He has said he wants to focus on himself but not make me feel like I’m not a priority. We still talk mostly every day but will say things like you probably hate me but, and will follow that with whatever he wanted to say to me. And that’s if I go a couple of days without texting him. Obviously I get annoyed that plans are made then change last minute so I step back and let him come to me. What I don’t understand is why he says things like you probably hate me but, or I’m working here today if you want to drive by and throw something at me? It comes across like he wants me to hate him but I’m not a hateful person, I’m understanding but maybe to a fault. I just don’t get what he’s trying to do by saying things like that.

I should also add, when I didn’t talk to him for a week after he had made plans and bailed last minute, his best friend sent me a friend request on Instagram. My guy friend mentioned that he thinks that means he’s talking about me to his friend and he knows he messed up so he’s trying to see what’s up with me via his friend.

He feels like he’s messed up
Why wouldn’t he just come out and say he messed up instead of saying silly things like this?
He’s asked me again if I am going to drive by his worksite to throw something at him, he asked me this the other day too so I responded asking if he wants me to hurt him and he said duh. Why the heck is he saying this? Why does he want me to hurt him? Physically?
Or his friend is just trying to smash
